The deputy chairpersons of the Refugee Protection Division (RPD) and the Refugee Appeal Division (RAD) have recently begun to meet to ensure that they are each aware of the pressures and priorities facing the other division. This context will enable each division to carry out its mandate more effectively. The institutional independence of the RPD and the RAD, and of their members, is paramount and is safeguarded, as set out in the Terms of Reference developed to guide the deputy chairpersons in these meetings.
