Refugee Protection Division Member Recruitment Campaign

The Refugee Protection Division (RPD) is one of four tribunals (or divisions) within Canada’s largest independent administrative tribunal, the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada (IRB). The RPD has a need to staff multiple RPD member positions (current and anticipated vacancies) at our Montreal, Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver offices.

Working as independent decision-makers at a tribunal at arm’s length from government, RPD members conduct proceedings in a fair and expeditious manner and render timely decisions on claims for refugee protection made in Canada. RPD decision-makers must be highly specialized and trained to conduct impartial and expeditious proceedings.

In 2016, the RPD launched a national selection process, utilizing a candidate inventory approach, to fill independent public servant decision-maker positions. That selection process remains open but has recently been refreshed to include a new essential qualification option (option 2) under which candidates may apply.

We anticipate that the next wave of applicants to be assessed will be drawn from the inventory on April 17, 2017 at 11:59 pm PDT. Candidates applying as of April 18, 2017 or after will be considered in future waves of assessment. Interested candidates are invited to submit their applications. Candidates who have successfully applied remain in the inventory and are not required to reapply. For more information, and to apply for this position please visit the advertised process.
