As
previously announced, as of April 1, 2014, the IRB is no longer operating hearing rooms in Ottawa.
All hearings of Ottawa-based claims have been transferred to Montreal.
This arrangement is consistent with Board practice in most of the country, where persons from areas with relatively small numbers of claims are required to travel to a larger centre to have their claims heard.
This arrangement does not prevent counsel or clients from presenting applications to members seeking accommodation for vulnerable claimants.
In accordance with
Guideline 8, the IRB considers applications for accommodation for vulnerable claimants on a case by case basis. The IRB will continue to ensure that adequate accommodation is available as required.
